50th Morpeth Northumbrian Gathering
Following a lovely start to the new year, with some well attended meetings and sessions (welcome to our new members!) we are delighted to announce that we have been asked to perform in this year’s Morpeth Northumbrian Gathering.
TFA will be taking part in the Golden Gala Concert on Friday 21st April in the Methodist Church at 7.30 pm, celebrating the 50th Anniversary of this wonderful gathering. We will be performing alongside an all-star line-up including Bottle Bank Band, Bob Bolum and fellow TFA member, David Oliver. There will also be a performance by the Morpeth Community String group, which will be playing arrangements of tunes composed by Stewart Hardy. This group is open to all, and there will be two community workshops on Wednesdays 29th March and 12th April, 6 – 8 pm in the Morpeth Chantry Bagpipe Museum. All are welcome, just come along.
TFA will also be competing again this year, to defend our Folk Band/Concert Group trophy, and this will be on Saturday 22nd April from 3.30 pm in the Town Hall. Don’t forget there are also plenty of competitions for all standards of fiddle playing in St George’s URC Church from 2pm, and competitions for duets and ceilidh bands too.
